William Stevenson was born in Byker, Northumberland and enlisted at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Serving with the 16th Battalion Northumberlanf Fusilier, he was killed in action on 2 April 1917, aged 21 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
