George Graham Walhstrand was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Green Howards in December 1940, transferred to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in August 1941. He advanced to Temporary Captain in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in October 1942, and retired as Honorary Captain in 1946 (awarded Efficiency Medal London Gazette 14 October 1949).
