Romano-British, bronze figure of Mercury, 2nd century AD, 8.3cm high by 3.6cm wide, moulded in the round, Mercury is shown standing naked with his weight on his right leg (missing), his left leg is set slightly back; his right arm is missing while his left arm is held sideways, a cloak is draped over his shoulder. Fine with uneven brown patina £150-£180
Mercury was the inventor of the arts and was adopted as a Celtic deity
