The Danish steamship Bodil was bombed and sunk on 22 July 1938 by unknown aircraft off the Balearic Islands during the Spanish Civil War, with the survivors picked up by H.M.S. Shropshire, of the 1st Cruiser Squadron, and landed at Marseilles.
