George William Argent was born in Bethnal Green, London, and attested for the Royal West Kent Regiment at Stratford, Essex. He serve with the 6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 December 1915, and was killed in action on 7 March 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
