Frederick Seaman was born in Stanton, Suffolk. He attested for the Suffolk Regiment at Bury St. Edmunds in January 1891. Seaman served with the Regiment in the East Indies, March 1893 - December 1898, and in South Africa, November 1899 - August 1900. He was discharged, 26 January 1903, having served for 11 years and 64 days with the Colours.
