Francis Jack Needham, 2nd Earl of Kilmorey (1787-1880), known as Viscount Newry from 1822-32 when he succeeded to the title granted to his father, a veteran of the 1798 Irish Rebellion, in 1822; married Jane Gun-Cuninghame of Mount Kennedy, co Wicklow, 1814; MP for Newry 1819-26, High Sheriff of Down 1828; resided at the family estate, Shavington, Cheshire, 1831-9; scandalised Victorian society by eloping with his 20-year old ward, Priscilla Hoste (†1854), daughter of Lady Harriet Walpole, in 1843, by whom he had a daughter after setting her up in an adjoining house with an underground tunnel between the two residences in Twickenham.
