Arthur Thomas Boxall was born in Stedham, Sussex, and attested for the Hampshire Regiment at Petersfield, Hampshire. He served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War in Mesopotamia from 26 August 1915, and was captured and taken Prisoner of War at Kut-al-Amara. He died in captivity on 23 August 1916, and is buried in Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery, Iraq.
