‘For conspicuous gallantry near Sari Bair, Gallipoli Peninsula, on 21 August 1915, when he led his platoon with the greatest coolness.’

Thomas Sturges served with the 10th Battalion, Hampshire Regiment during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War from 22 July 1915, and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his gallantry near Sari Bair on 21 August 1915.
