M.M. London Gazette 22 March 1945.

The original Recommendation, for an Immediate I.D.S.M., states ‘On 4 to 6 November 1944 in the Fort White area Lance-Naik Mohammad Din was in command of the leading group of scouts in on an attack on a heavily wooded hill feature. He worked his way close up to the Japanese bunker positions and actually penetrated between two posts. His group was then ordered to withdraw to allow an Artillery concentration and an air strike to be put down. His section was at the time under fire from three sides and Lance-Naik Mohammad Din stayed on the position with grenades and Bren gun to cover his section out. In spite of heavy fire he held the Japanese off and neutralised their fire till all his men were clear.
His courage and determination saved the lives of his section and set an outstanding example to the men in his Company.’
