A particularly attractive contemporary watercolour by artist Irwin Bevan of Great War Motor Launches at speed, titled to reverse in pencil ‘Zeebrugge, 23 April 1918’, signed Irwin Bevan to lower-left corner, mounted in period oak frame behind glass, approx. 58cm x 31cm, small historical crack to frame, otherwise in good condition £120-£160

Irwin Bevan was born in 1852 and became a prolific war artist specialising in watercolour paintings of British Warships. His most well known paintings include Battle Cruisers in Action: Dogger Bank January 1915, and The Battle of Jutland: H.M.S. Warspite in Action, 31 May 1916. He died in 1940.
