Estimate: £600–£800

A late 19th / early 20th century silver grouse decanter/table ornament, realistically modelled with chased feathers, with detachable head and hinged wings, import marks for Berthold Muller, London 1902, height 17.5cm. £600-£800

Berthold Muller & Son was an import firm, listed in 1894 as a manufacturers’ agent operating from 165 Wardour Street, Soho, London. They subsequently moved to 187 Wardour Street in 1895. It appears that there were three generations of the family involved in the firm from the late nineteenth century into the early twentieth century. In 1915 Muller anglicised his name to Miller, and became B. Miller & Son, carrying on business as a wholesale silversmiths and jewellers, antique reproduction in silver, ivories, miniatures and enamels.
