Danelaw, Penny, after Alfred the Great’s Two Line type, copying Mercian dies, Eadwald, ælfred re+ irregularly spaced around small cross pattée, rev. eadvvald in two lines divided by pellet and two trefoils, 1.19g/11h (cf. BMC 283; N 475/1; S 966). Good very fine and toned, of rather good style and fabric £1,500-£1,800
