Albert W. Irwin attested for the Royal Field Artillery and served with them during the Great War on the Western front from 22 August 1914. Mentioned in Despatches and advanced Warrant Officer Class II, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 150 of 1927.
