John Daniel Dennis was born in April 1897 and was a resident of Llanigon parish and a shoeing smith by trade. He attested for service in the Royal Flying Corps on 14 August 1916 and served as a fitter and Corporal Mechanic. He was transferred to the R.A.F. Reserve in November 1919.
