William Street, from Brierly Hill, Staffordshire, attested into the South Staffordshire Regiment for service during the Great War and served on the Western Front with the 8th Battalion from 1 August 1915. He transferred into the Durham Light Infantry and was advanced Corporal and later awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with the 15th Battalion. He saw further service with the 11th Battalion and was discharged following the cessation of hostilities.
