1914 Star (2216 Pte. A. Salthouse. 6/Ches: R.) small verdigris spot to obverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine £80-£100
Albert Salthouse was born in Pendleton, Lancashire, and attested for the Cheshire Regiment at Glossop, Derbyshire. He served with the 1/6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 10 November 1914, and was killed in action on 13 November 1916, on which date the Battalion was involved in an attack on St. Pierre Divion; all objectives were taken, but the Battalion suffered a total of 275 casualties. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
