Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Relief of Ladysmith (3046 Pte. A. Leyden. Middlesex Regt.) contact marks, very fine £240-£280
Anthony Leyden attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 2nd Battalion in South Africa during the Boer War. He was wounded at Spion Kop on 24 January 1900, on which date the battalion suffered 4 Officers and 38 men killed, and 4 Officers and 49 men wounded. He further attested into the Royal Defence Corps on 26 July 1915 for service during the Great War and was discharged on 5 March 1917 with the award a Silver War Badge, No. 143,400.
