Walter Henry was born in Dartford, Kent, in 1865, and attested for the Royal Artillery at Woolwich on 17 November 1883. Awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1902 whilst serving as Musician in the Royal Garrison Artillery, he was discharged at Woolwich on 16 November 1904, after 21 years’ service.
