Reginald James Singlet Fleming was born in Lewisham, Kent on 7 March 1907. He was commissioned into the Royal Artillery, Territorial Army, on 7 September 1940 for service during the Second World War and served in North Africa and Italy. Post War he was awarded his Efficiency Medal on 2 May 1947 and was appointed Colonel on 1 January 1957.

Guy Richard Tufnell Gillett, the son of Colonel C. R. Gillett D.S.O., Royal Artillery, was born on 5 February 1911. Educated at Wellington College and the R.M.A. Woolwich, he was commissioned into the Royal Artillery and was later appointed Major. He served at Home during the Second War and died on 29 November 1942. He is buried in Catterick Military Cemetery.
