Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., E.VII.R. (2) (John Alford, Ch. Sto., H.M.S. Erebus.; 268536 Alfred Gilbert, C.E.R.A. 1 Cl, H.M.S. Tamar.) traces of adhesive to bottom edge of both, otherwise good very fine (2) £80-£100

John Alford served in the cruiser H.M.S. Terrible from March 1898 to June 1901, and is entitled to both a no clasp Queen’s South Africa Medal and a no clasp China Medal. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 23 July 1904.

Alfred Gilbert was employed at the Royal Naval College from May 1906 to June 1908, and saw further service during the Great War in the cruiser H.M.S. Foresight.
