Robert B. Powley, a native of Cobbinshaw, Lanarkshire, and attested for the Highland Light Infantry. He served with the 8th Battalion in Gallipoli during the Great War and, posted on attachment to the 7th Battalion, Royal Scots, was killed in action during the 52nd (Lowland) Division’s attack on the Kerethes Valley on 12 July 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
