D.C.M. London Gazette 14 November 1916:
‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He rallied and organised the men near him, displaying great courage and determination. Later, he carried messages under heavy fire.’


George Reid attested for the Highland Light Infantry and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 30 November 1914. Subsequently proceeding to Mesopotamia, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for actions in April 1916.
