Richard Beveridge was born in Cuper, Fife, in 1857 and attested for the Highland Light Infantry at Glasgow on 11 May 1876. He served with the 2nd Battalion in Egypt from 5 August 1882 to 18 February 1883, and was discharged on 16 August 1888.
