Alexander Robert Charles Eaton was born in 1889 and served during the Great War as a temporary Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment on the Western Front from 5 December 1915. He was killed in action on 23 August 1918, and is buried in Adanac Military Cemetery, Miraumont, France. His Great War medals were ‘returned’ to the War Office, and his Medal Index Card annotated accordingly, on 15 July 1949; consequently this is his only extant medal.
