Albert Porter was born in Leicester in 1880 and attested there for the Oxfordshire Light Infantry on 16 June 1900. Returning home on 15 January 1908, he transferred to the Reserve on 16 June 1908, and was discharged on 15 June 1912, after 12 years’ service.
