James V (1513-1542), Second coinage, Groat, Holyrood Abbey mint, type IIIb (iii), bust right with mantle and corded chain, single-arched crown, nine jewels to band, strawberry-leaf decorations, small trefoil on inner circle beneath first o of scotorv, rev. shield with rounded base, cross-ends E, no contraction after r of edinbvrgi, trefoil stops both sides, 2.69g/12h (cf. SCBI 35, 935-6; SCBI 58, 77ff; SCBI 71, 375 and B 15, fig. 717, same dies; S 5378). Light diagonal scratch on obverse, about very fine and toned £300-£400
