Alexander III (1249-1286), Second coinage, Sterlings (2), class Ma/B mule, mm. plain cross on obv., cross potent on rev., bust left with little backsweep to hair, rev. long cross, four mullets of six points in angles, 1.35g/1h; class Mb1, similar but mm cross potent, colon after gra, 1.33g/9h (SCBI 35, – 196; cf. B 23, –, fig. 153, –; S 5053/5052, 5053) [2]. Both with rough surfaces, good fine or better, both rare varieties £100-£120
