Robert Parry was born in Liverpool and enlisted in the 83rd Regiment of Foot on 18 March 1858. Posted to Gibraltar, India and Afghanistan, his Army Service Record states that he imprisoned on three occasions. Transferred to the 81st Foot 18 December 1861, he served during the Second Anglo-Afghan War and was discharged upon termination of engagement at Rawal Pindi on 6 October 1879.

Sold with copied Army Service Record, which adds: ‘Conduct has been bad. Is not in possession of any good conduct badges. 48 times entered in Regimental defaulter’s book.’
