John George Rarp was born in Edmonton, London, in 1897, and enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps as Air Mechanic Second Class (Aero Engine Fitter) on 28 October 1915. Posted to France from 18 October 1918 for service with 75 Squadron, he was discharged on 30 April 1920.
