Government of Tonga, a black-and-white obverse archival photograph for an unadopted £1, 2 May 1957, serial number A/A 000000, Goodacre, Tungi, and Robertson signatures, coat of arms at centre, design dominated by depiction of a coastal scene with trees, buildings, and an observation tower, date stamp on reverse, a little handling, paperclip indentation at upper left margin, otherwise as produced, an important and curious De La Rue record of a note design that never saw production, made more interesting by the fact that this dates from the middle of an already-existing series that persisted from 1940 until 1966, unique and beautiful
