An 18ct gold sapphire, diamond and cultured pearl butterfly brooch by Deakin & Francis, 1993, the wings pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds and centred with oval mixed-cut sapphires, the head set with a sapphire cabochon and the thorax with a cultured pearl, UK hallmark, maker’s mark, total diamond weight approximately 0.50 carat, length 26mm. £600-£800

Light surface wear commensurate with use. Some tarnishing to gold in places. Diamonds bright and lively. Sapphire well matched. Light wear. Cultured pearl with evidence of adhesive from setting. Additional maker’s mark ‘AJ’. Some movement in hinge when open, secure when closed. Gross weight 11.2gm.
