Two oval silver gilt tags by Andrew Grima, both reading ‘Andrew Grima London’ to the front, the second applied to the reverse with the logo for ‘The Queen’s Award for Industry’, both with applied thread fittings to the reverse, with maker’s mark ‘HJCo’, hallmarked for London 1966 and 1969 respectively, lengths 23mm. (2) £200-£300

Andrew Grima was awarded the Queen’s Award for Industry in its inaugural year, 1966,

The company H. J. Co. Ltd was listed as a recipient of the award ‘for export achievement’, in the Second Supplement to the London Gazette, published Friday 16 April 1966.
Grima had taken over his father-in-law’s business H J Company (The Haller Jewellery Company) in 1952, and continued to use the same maker’s mark until 1971 until it was replaced by ‘AG Ltd’.

The logo for the Queen’s Award to Industry (now the King’s Awards for Enterprise) was designed by British graphic designer Abram Games in 1965, the emblem, featuring a stylized ‘E’ and crown.

These tags were probably additions to the leather retail pouches, and mounted on leather drawstrings.
