A 16th - 17th century gold fede ring, the bezel of the ring modelled as clasped hands supporting a heart, with good traces of white enamel extant, between frilled cuffs and scrolled sleeves, the interior of the band inscribed in seriffed Roman capitals script ‘YOVRS IN HART’, ring size G½, weight 1.8gm. £1,000-£1,500
This ring was discovered by a metal detectorist in Berkshire in the early 1990s.
Traces of white enamel remain to the hands and one small trace of blue enamel to one sleeve. Gold shows general surface wear throughout, one tiny hole though the gold to one sleeve. Inscription within remains clear - long tails to the ‘R’s, traces of black enamel or niello to ‘IN’. Width at bezel centre 7.5mm.
Weight 1.8gm.
According to a PMI test on the XRF Analyzer, the ring is testing as 20.51ct gold, with traces of silver, coppper, lead, iron and bismuth, etc.
