This ring is a detectorist find discovered at Itchen Valley, Winchester in January 2024. It is recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database ref: BERK-8B24F0 and has been disclaimed as Treasure, ref: 2024 T182.
The ring has been gently reshaped to its present form; it is slightly distorted, but wearable. The detail remains crisp, with little wear.
The cabochon emerald has several surface reaching fractures (one across the length of the stone, which has chipping the the surface), but is is a deep vivid and attractive green colour.
According to a PMI test on the XRF Analyzer, the ring is testing as 20.38ct gold, with traces of silver, iron, copper, lead, and bismuth.
