A 19th century scarab ring, the black hardstone scarab bead with figural intaglio to the reverse, within a beaded setting and wraparound mount formed of three entwined serpents, to a reeded hoop, mounted in gold, (composite), ring size Q. £400-£600
According to a PMI test the shank is testing as 9ct gold and the mount between 12ct - 18ct gold.
Composite. The shank and two serpents extending from the shank are later and with solder evident where attached. One snake head to side detached from gallery of ring. The other head with possible repair / discolouration to body. Scarab with some surface scuffs and abrasions evident under close inspection. The bead no longer swivels as soldered in place. Overall good aesthetic. Light surface wear.
