Place BidEarly Anglo-Saxon Period, Merovingian, Denier, ‘Maastricht’ type, struck at an uncertain mint probably in the Rhineland, degenerate bust left, with large spiky hair, holding small cross, rev. four interlocking petals, forming a floral device, pellets around, 1.06g (MEC I 634; Metcalf 265). Good very fine, lightly toned, very rare thus £240-£300
