Charles I (1625-1649), Exeter mint, Shilling, 1644, mm. rose, Truro obv. die, large bust of coarse style with rounded shoulder, 5.75g/3h (Besly C9; SCBI Brooker 1063, same dies; N 2575; S 3085). A small striking split at 6 o'clock and a spot on reverse, otherwise very fine, toned £1,200-£1,500
