Place BidGeorge III (1760-1820), Pre-1816 issues, Pattern or Trial Shilling, 1787, in silver, unsigned [by L. Pingo], laureate and cuirassed bust right, georgivs iii dei gratia, rev. m b f et h rex f d b et l s r i a t et e and date, crowned cruciform shields, with hearts, harp with 7 strings, edge diagonally raised, 26mm, 6.03g/12h (DNW 171, 248, same dies; cf. ESC 2129; S 3746). Distinct margin between legend and rim, good very fine and toned, probably very rare £300-£400

The late owner’s ticket suggests this may be a pattern, although perhaps trial would be better terminology as the lettering is of the usual fish-tail type
