Harry J. Jones, who joined the 21st Lancers at Suez in 1912, first went into action in the regiment’s celebrated charge at Shabkadar on 5 September 1915 (his MIC entry confirms) - he was later employed as a motor cyclist at the Signalling Depot, Poona.
