A RARITY AS WORN BY THE ROYAL FAMILY PROTECTION UNIT
A watch created especially exclusively for members of the Royal and Specialist Protection Unit, who are responsible for safeguarding the Royal Family, as well as parliamentary and government officials, is a highlight of this sale.
This c.2018, rare, limited-edition stainless steel automatic wristwatch by Tudor is Ref. 79220B, and Black Bay ‘Royal and Specialist Protection Unit’. Its distinctive dial features the RaSP unit’s insignia, showcasing a finely detailed Tudor rose surmounted by the Imperial State Crown.
Only 75 pieces of this watch were produced – this one marked No. 61/75 – and it was made available solely to members of the unit. The case back is engraved with the unique ‘P number’ of the designated owner.
It comes with a guarantee card, instruction booklet, guarantee booklet, spare link, additional leather strap with folding clasp, additional fabric strap with clasp, swing tag, and presentation case. The estimate is €6,000-8,000.
The catalogue also offers a fine selection of leading brands for both the gentleman and lady collector. They include a stainless steel automatic c.2014 Rolex Datejust wristwatch with date, Oyster case and bracelet and Azzurro blue dial, Ref. |16334. Accompanied by its guarantee card, wallet, spare links and presentation case, the estimate is £6,000-8,000.
A stainless steel cushion-form automatic diver’s wristwatch by Panerai is another highlight The Ref. PAMOI229 Submersible, no. Z0210/3000, dates to 2024 and has a black dial, stainless steel case with screw-down back, rotating bezel with graduated scale, and protective crown. It comes with warranty card and presentation case and is expected to fetch £3,000-5.000.
One of the best-loved classic designs is the Rolex lady’s Oyster Perpetual stainless steel and gold automatic wristwatch with bracelet. An example her dating to around 2001 has a sunray silvered dial, stainless steel Oyster case, screw-down back and crown, with stainless steel and gold Jubilee bracelet. The guarantee, wallet, tags, spare link and presentation case are all present and the guide is €1,000-1,500.
Another classic of equal standing is the Cartier lady’s Panthère gold bracelet watch. One dating to around 1990, with silvered dial, Roman numerals, and secret signature at X, is also on offer. The 18ct gold case has a back secured by eight screws, cabochon sapphire-set winding crown and 18ct gold brick link bracelet. It carries hopes of £2,400-2,600.
A lady’s gold bracelet Tubogas watch by Bulgari adds to the list of outstanding pieces. Dating to c.2010 and with a quartz movement, it has a black dial, 18ct gold case, and a bezel engraved Bvlgari Bvlgari. It should sell for £3,000-5,000.
The sale also includes a diverse array of timepieces that reflect the style and character of the era in which they were made, with beautifully designed cases and dials concealing the horological craftsmanship within.
