DIAMOND JUBILEE BREMONT DESIGNED FOR THE ROYAL HOUSEHOLD LIMITED TO A PRODUCTION RUN OF 50, WITH ROLEX DAYTONA EXPECTED TO FETCH £18,000

Rolex and Bremont make their mark in this auction with several significant pieces, including a rare, limited edition watch designed to mark Her majesty Queen Elizabeth’s II’s Diamond Jubilee.

The Bremont Supermarine S300 watch was part of a special commission made by The Royal Mews, a division of the Royal Household and the limited production run of 50 pieces was only available to those working for The Royal Household.

 

Bremont is an award-winning luxury watch brand based in Henley-on-Thames, England. Founded by brothers Nick and Giles English in 2002, they produce watches inspired by their love of flying and based on the ideals of British watchmaking. All their watches are either COSC or ISO chronometer rated, and hand built in the UK.

The stainless steel diver’s wristwatch on offer in this sale has a dial that displays the Royal Coat of Arms at 6 o’clock and the case back depicts the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II. The example here is Ref. S300/301, Supermaine and is signed to the case, dial, movement and buckle.

It comes with a warranty card, ISO 3159 certificate, instruction booklet, strap tool, and leather case, and is estimated at £3,000-5,000.

Another limited edition Bremont on offer was made for members of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm, Ref. U-2/RN FAA, circa 2019. It also comes with a certificate, ISO 3159 test certificate, spare Nato style strap, strap tool and leather presentation pouch. The guide is £1,500-2,000.

A Rolex Daytona stainless steel automatic chronograph wristwatch with bracelet is expected to fetch £12,000-18,000. Ref. 116520 and dating to circa 2009, it has subsidiary dials for constant seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour registers. The stainless steel Oyster case has a screw-down back, crown and chronograph pushers, no. M961485, as well as a stainless steel Oyster bracelet. The case, dial, movement and bracelet are all signed.

The Daytona comes with a guarantee, leather wallet, booklet, service guarantee, two spare links, tags, protective bezel cover and presentation case.

Having a long history of producing sports chronograph models in 1963 Rolex launched the Cosmograph Daytona, named after the 24-hours Daytona auto race in Florida which Rolex sponsored at the time.

In 2000 Rolex released the reference 116520 Daytona, which marked the introduction of Rolex’s first in-house calibre 4130 chronograph movement. Its predecessor, the reference 16520, was powered by the calibre 4035 which was produced by Zenith.

Production of the ref. 116520 ceased in 2016 when Rolex launched the ref. 116500LN with ceramic bezel. This ref. 116520 was sold in 2009 is in immaculate condition and comes with all its accessories.

“The Rolex Daytona is certainly the most famous chronograph watch on the market,” says Noonans’ Watches specialist Joanne Lewis.

A stainless steel Rolex, Sea-Dweller, Ref. 116600 and circa 2015, comes with a guarantee, leather wallet, booklet, tags, protective bezel cover and presentation case, and carries hopes of £7,000-10,000.
