Joseph Brooks was born in Radford, Nottinghamshire, and attested for the Royal Munster Fusiliers in Nottingham. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War at Gallipoli from 7 August 1915 (also entitled to a 1914-15 Star), before proceeding to the Western Front, and was killed in action on 10 November 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
