Stephen Harris signed the Protestation in 1641. He donated £2 10 shillings to The Free & Voluntary Present in 1661, and in the 1664 Hearth Tax returns was assessed at 6 hearths, and on 3 hearths on another house occupied by Will Moore. A tin merchant, he had an estate at Illogan. He was married twice, firstly to Joan, who was buried on 23 September 1647 and by whom he had a son and daughter, and secondly to Jane Remphry on 30 November 1647, with whom he had two daughters and a son between 1648 and 1654. Jane was buried on 22 May 1683 and Stephen on 29 October 1687; his Will was proved on 25 July 1688
