Kings of Wessex, Alfred the Great, Third coinage, Penny of the Two Line type [BMC XIV] struck from West Mercian dies by the moneyer Buga, + el fr ed re around small cross, rev. bvga mon in two lines, divided with two trefoils and a singular pellet, 1.54g/11h (SCBI Ashmolean 252-3; N 637; S 1066). Small metal crease on obverse, otherwise better than very fine, rich old cabinet tone £1,500-£2,000
