The Collections and Workings of a De La Rue Engraver

Robin Taylor

Robin Taylor was born in 1942, and was apprenticed to the printing company Evershed & Co. as a young man. He joined Thomas de la Rue & Co in 1971 and worked there for many decades. He specialised in Picture Engraving and Portrait Engraving, and trained under such legends of the craft as Gilbert Carradine and Stanley Doubtfire. He also studied figure drawing, modelling and sculpture at the City and Guilds of London Art School. In 1997 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

This collection of items comprises many of his own works, as well as a multitude of others which he used as inspiration, or were given to him over the course of his career. None of them have ever been seen by collectors before.
