Æthelred II (978-1016), Penny, Second Hand type [BMC IId; BEH B2], struck at London by Ælfgar, draped and diademed bust right, sceptre in field before face +æðelred rex anglox around, rev., hand of providence with ornate cuff, flanked by a.-w., +ælfg’ar m-o lvnd, around, 1.26g/9h (BEH 2031; SCBI Mack 838 = Jonsson p.90, m, this coin; FEJ –; N 768; S 1146). A few peckmarks on the reverse, otherwise very fine, old grey tone £300-£400
