Æthelred II (978-1016), Penny, CRVX type [BMC IIIa; BEH C], struck at Totnes by Doda, draped bust left, sceptre in field before face, +æðelræd rex anglox around, rev. voided short cross, c-r-v-x in angles, +doda m-o totan around, 1.77g/3h (BEH 3840; FEJ 841, same dies; N 770; S 1148). Peckmarked and a trifle crimped, otherwise very fine, rare, toned £400-£500
