Æthelred II (978-1016), Penny, Last Small Cross type [BMC I; BEH A], struck at York by Sumarlithi, draped and diademed bust left, head leaning slightly forward, +eðelræd rex anglov: around, rev. small cross, +svmrleda m-o eofp around, 1.64g/6h (BEH 893 [L 7]; FEJ –; N 777; S 1154). Neatly struck on a full, round flan, good very fine, rich old tone £300-£400
