The Uniform Coinage of India, East India Company: Patterns, William IV, original silver Pattern Rupee, 1834 [March 1835], type 4, Calcutta, unsigned [by K. Dass], bust right, william iiii . king ., rev. lotus flower above one rupee and date, all within laurel wreath with 38 berries, east india company above, ek rupiya, yek rupiya, ek rupiya below, wavy line circumferential borders both sides, edge plain, 31mm, 11.68g/6h (Prid. 173 [not in Sale]; SW 1.26; KM. Pn5; cf. Fore II, 790). Trifling hairlines, otherwise brilliant and practically as struck, extremely rare as an original Pattern £6,000-£8,000

Owner’s envelope, record card, ANACS certificate and photo card, dated 7 August 1980, “This coin is interesting in that it is the first expensive! EIC coin I purchased to add to the currency coins and had it assessed by ANA Certification Service”,

The ANACS submitted the coin to XRF analysis, showing the metal content as pure silver, with a specific gravity of 10.53
